| | | Shaggy Parasols???
I found what I believe to be shaggy parasols in the edinburgh area. Can anyone confirm this identification?

| | | Re: Shaggy Parasols??? Hello matthew welcome to W.A.B.
I think you could probably assume that you are in the correct territory with Chlorophyllum rhacodes fromerly known as Macrolepiota rhacodes. there are some other possibilities but with that many scales on the cap I think your safe with your I.D.
Just a hint for the future posting more information re. habitat, fungi characteristics etc. Also if you could include (or at least have a stab at)the latin name you will tend to get a better response from other site users
This thread explains all Help us to help you identify fungi

| | | Re: Shaggy Parasols??? Hi Matthew and welcome from me too.
I'm afraid I've had to remove your other thread about chanterelles as we don't answer questions re edibility here. See Is my fungus edible or psychotic requests.
Also in future, please please please identify your mushroom before eating it! Doing it the other way round can be very dangerous, just ask Nicholas Evans.

| | | Re: Shaggy Parasols??? Dave,
Thank you for your response and apologies for refering to edibility. I can understand why this has had to be removed and will be sure not to make reference in the future.
This forum is turning out to be a valuable resourse so I shall re-post the chanterelle query without eating references.

Thank you for your help. I will certainly include more info on habitat etc in the future.
Thanks again.
