| | | intersting fungal behaviours I'm wondering if anybody knows of any good sources of information available online for understanding the 'behaviours' of different species of mushrooms. I'm not sure on the terminology but I'm talking about reproductive habits, lifecycles, etc. I'm looking particularly for unusual and unique species. Any help would be much appreciated! |

| | | Re: intersting fungal behaviours where to start with "interesting fungi" . . . . Schizophyllum commune with its 28,000 different sexes . . . . Trichoderma the mould which is the real factor in the making of so-called "stone-washed jeans" . . . . Hormoconis resinae the fungus which can live in aeroplane fuel tanks and threatened the Concorde project . . . . the honey fungus relative Armillaria ostoyae an 'individual' of which covers an area of 8.9 square kilometres (2,200 acres) and is estimated to be 2,400 years old the total mass of the colony may be as much as 605 tons! . . . . as I say where to start?
this is as good a place as any: Tom Volk's Fungus of the Month Pages
