Club Fungus ID help please

Fuit body was growing saprobically from sclerotum in damp earth among dead, decayed leaf litter.

From base of the sclerotum to tip of the largest was 9cm.

Macrotyphula fistulosa has been suggested and I'm toying with Typhula phacorrhiza but not convinced either way if at all

Help with pinning down ID would be appreciated. I do not have acess to or the skills to use a microscope but I did retain dried voucher specimen.

Even a rough steer to set me on my way would be good. Thank you in anticipation

PS A search of the WAB galleries, and comparison in MycoKey is making JP's Macrotyphula fistulosa well ahead in the betting after all.

Does M fistulosa grow from a sclerota? T phacorrhiza does.

my research hasn't been extensive enough yet Mal. I found it today and emailed images to JP who sent an email by return making the quite reasonable suggestion.

M storey's Bioimages may be worth a look as my books are out of reach
