gill shots would be useful, but I would suggest:
top one Mycena inclinata
bottom one Pleurotus ostreatus
Chris

| | | Re: Some fungi photos from Badby Wood first set- from bottom up
stereum hirsutum, the hairy stereum
A coprinus, probably truncorum as small group with few if any mica granules
A stipe is cleary indicating this is not pluerotus ostreatus, if I had to pin it down i would give laccaria amethystina, but only if hornbeam/beech are present as all i can see is oak leaf.
the next two, out of my area, but the one above, the little black job, is bulgaria iquinans

| | | Re: Some fungi photos from Badby Wood Chris is quite clearly referring to the 2 additional photos above.
Where Chris suggests Pleurotus ostreatus, this is entirely feasible, as they can be this deep grey colour when young, the growth is right and so is habitat.
To suggest these are Bulgaria inquinans is just bizzare, these are an Ascomycete and are concave or cup shaped in appearance, whilst those in the photo are obviously spore droppers and therefore Basidiomycete.
I agree with you over Laccaria amethystina, but not sure what you mean "if only beech/hornbeam present" Oak leaves are present, simply because they like to grow with Oak.
Neil.
P.S. to Hama - I'm sure you didn't really think Chris was suggesting the Laccaria amethystina was Pleurotus ostreatus. Did you ? |
