| | | white spindle type fungi for id found under conifers in grass, lots of them scattered along a couple of metres,
some had brownish tips and others were very slightly forked in places, not just at the tips,
these are furrowed and wrinkled, while the only white ones described in my limited collection of books are smooth slender types,
any pointers in the right direction will be much appreciated,
thanks ,

| | | Re: white spindle type fungi for id I'm assuming these are all fungi and not fungi smothering grass blades ?
If the former, then they are club fungi in the genus of Clavaria with the species being possibly acuta or maybe falcata or whatever it is called now.

as some of them appear to be forking at the top - albeit half-heartedly - Clavulina rugosa is a possibility

| | | Re: white spindle type fungi for id many thanks Neil and Chris,
although the pictures in both my phillips and Jordans dont bear much resembalance to them, having done some more searching of the net, i have found some good matches for Clavulina rugosa, which seems to fit nicely,
but as always, without any microscopic examination,i will be happy with "probably"
thanks,
