gill colour/spore print would really help; it could be Pholiota gummosa

OK, this isn't what was needed but maybe it'll help a little. There seem to be lots that look similar so I'm not really expecting an ID!

I can see nothing wrong with Chris's tentative ID.
I have come across P.gummosa quite a few times and they always seem to come out from the bottom side of fallen branches or cut planks that line footpaths in damp areas.
