I would be interested to hear what this is too. I saw something similar the other day. I was also thinking it may be a type of amanita.
I would also be interested to know what the little egg like things are in the bottom left corner of your photograph.

| | | Re: Amanita help I thought the orange showing through was a bit more of a brown colour and wondered if this could possibly be a very young 'The Panther' (Amanita pantherina).
It would be interesting to see what it develops into. Perhaps you could go back soon to see if it has grown more and take another photo to show us?
Any ideas yet what the little jelly like eggs might be?
