| | | Wood Blewit - 2 year's growth Two years ago I collected a single Wood Blewit from woods several miles from home. I propped it up in my wood pile. Some of the spores must've found a suitable substrate in my garden, and today I was surprised and delighted to discover that my experiment had worked.
I was wondering if anyone else had tried this at home, and with which species.

Deb | very many years ago I collected some Lepista nuda in Roundhay Park, Leeds; I took them in to the workplace of a then girlfriend who worked in Queen Square in central Leeds (very close to the Merrion Centre for those who know the city) as she had cooking facilities and I thought it would be a treat for her and her colleagues
fussy as they were I had to rinse them well under the tap first, and as there had been a water shortage a little while previously I tipped the water on to an area of rather parched grass in the 'mini-park' in the square
sure enough the following year Lepista nuda duly appeared (never noted there before)
Chris NB please note - the above should not be seen as a recommendation for consuming a species which can cause gastric problems on occasion due to its themolabile haemolytic metabolites

| | | Re: Wood Blewit - 2 year's growth Interesting story, Chris.
Looks like this species is easy to grow then.

Strange that the examples so far are all for this species. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
