| | | Could this be anything other than Lactarius pubescens? Hello everyone,
There aren't a huge abundance of fungi in the centre of Hull but I found a milkcap a couple of days ago (along with some Paxillus involutus and another unidentified fungus) that I think is Lactarius pubescens! Here's a description of the fungus (since I have no photo);
'Bearded' around the cap edge with pale hairs. Cap cream coloured with small hint of pink and approx 4cm diameter, depressed to umbillicate. Stipe concolourous with cap and hollow atleast from part way up the stipe (I tried to pick the whole stipe but it unexpectedly broke off). Gills cream and milk immediately very spicey on the tip of my tongue. Not much milk came out, I don't know whether this was because it was L. pubescens or whether it was just because I tested for milk about 20mins after picking.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Cheers,
Jack |

It doesn't help that I've forgotten exactly the colours that the fungus was tinted. I could try and look at spore size.
Bingo, I've just remembered I DO have some photos... And it appears my memory wasn't completely right!
I'll be back later on today to re-read through that thread you linked to I gotta go.
see ya,

Ah right; I didn't attach the photos the other day because I was in a rush. I'm in a rush this time too, I hope they are successfully attached. I might upload the images into the other Lactarius pubescens/torminosus thread. |
