| | | Re: Fungii for identification please Hi Richard,
I'd say the first set are Paxillus involutus, but that's only because it's a recognisable species. If you're keen in getting the right ID for your specimens, you'll need to supply us with larger images because some of the defining macro characteristics aren't visible in small images like those.
Just a tip
Nick

| | | Re: Fungii for identification please following on from Nick's comments, the characters at the base of the stipe (stem) can be important - so slicing through the stem can lose a lot of useful information - check out John's useful hints at: Help us to help you identify fungi
PS - I know it's confusing at first (and frankly not helped by this being called a "Fungi Forum" rather than a "Fungus Forum" ) but 'fungi' is the plural so no need for the second 'i'
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: Fungii for identification please Hi Richard,
As mentioned before, I think you'd have better results enlarging your images somewhat. These are very small to my eyes, and I consider myself to have pretty good vision so I expect for some of our 'older' members, this could be tricky.
If the last two are the same specimen, they're Lactarius torminosus . |

I will try and upload larger pics in the future (file size is awkward so need to research)
