| | | Boletus appendiculatus? Hi,
Found on a grassy footpath under an oak tree. I'm still collecting a sporeprint but the flesh is distinctly yellow-tinged above the pores. We looked for blueing when we cut it but the closest it came was a faint greenish yellow colour which faded overnight.
Is it Boletus appendiculatus? |

| | | Re: Boletus appendiculatus? The perfect example of yellowing just above the pores and in the stipe. No blueing and no reticulation. Boletus impolitus

| | | Re: Boletus appendiculatus? Mal: I would expect more "yellow colour" in the stem, if this is Impolitus.
Thanks,

A quote form BFF 1
B impolitus
"Flesh off-white to pale lemon-yellow in cap, deeper yellow over pores and stem-base, yellow slowly following all cortical zones but leaving central area paler. Rarely after some time more or less with pale red or even pale blue hues appearing"
Here's one I prepared earlier

| | | Re: Boletus appendiculatus? Thanks, all of you, for the help. For some reason I hadn't considered impolitus but looking at the description more closely, it's looking that way.
Finally got a sporeprint - I wasn't quite sure what "olivaceous snuff-brown" meant but looking at it, it's a pretty good description. |

| | | Re: Boletus appendiculatus? Thanks for the tip, Mal, when I said yellow colour in the stem, I meant the outside part of the stem not the flesh itself.
But I think is Impolitus since the first time that I saw the picture.
