| | | Hygrocybe citrinovirens - for confirmation Found on Saturday in unimproved grassland near Malham Tarn. I think it is Hygrocybe citrinovirens - could anyone confirm this as likely/possibly/something else - delete as appropriate!
Spores almost sub-globulose 8.4 x 6.1 microns R value 1.4:
Clamps present, pileipellis:
The cells in the gill trama were very long, flesh had a greenish tinge especially as it dried, both cap and stem were dry.
Thanks as always

| | | Re: Hygrocybe citrinovirens - for confirmation I think you are probably correct with that. I've just checked photos and micros of mine and mine were a spitting image of Boetmann's, whereas yours doesn't quite have the same dry orangey splitting look, but then yours would have been in very wet conditions, so not surprising. It does have some orange tint with slight lime green. Shape of cap and stem is right, gill colour (a clean white) and shape is right. The only other I think it could have been was H persistens from the outward appearance, but the spores of that are much bigger. And not H chlorophana, as cap and stem were dry, and in this wet weather recently that is rather unlikely. Same for a yellow H psittacina, which wouldn't have gills that white anyway. Which I think covers all the yellow ones with long gill trama ones. So yes, I'd agree with H citrinovirens .
They are rather pretty in my opinion.

| | | Re: Hygrocybe citrinovirens - for confirmation Many thanks for a very comprehensive reply - it's not one I've seen before and unfortunately this was the only specimen in the area. Now it's back to a couple of Entolomas
