Question armillaria borealis?
This was growing high on , I think, Cherry, poss birch last year, I just had it as Honey fungus, puzzled at being on high rather than at the base as normal.
Now I suspect it may be A. borealis, more frequent in northern UK and up trunks but have no experience of this, any help/steer out there please?
In woodland here in the south pennines, appears to have striations and similar cap markings to the one shown in the Gallery.

looks more like Armillaria ostoyae to me
