| | | Help with Cortinarius sp.?
This was growing on open grass - I think it was pasture before they built around it. A few trees around oak/birch.  
I wondered if it could be C.violaceus but I don't suppose it can be clear from just the photographs

Quite Possibly John. A mature fruit body would help further!!

Unfortunately not C. violaceous due to the lack of intense purple hues throughout the whole fruitbody. Also, C. violaceous has a silky and almost glittery purple cap.

John/Nick - Thanks for the input I was just glad that I was able to recognise it as Cortinarius. Unfortunately there were only a couple of these all about the same and this was the most mature.
I have just noticed though that I doubled up on one of the images and I meant to post this one ..
