| | | Re: unknown boletus Not too sure on this one at all Especially about it being a Peppery Bolete as the stipe isn't too concolourous with the cap from what I can see of your photo, Though it does have the yellow base & a flattish cap so quite possibly
What was the size? Shame you didn't taste a little to see if it had that hotness on the tongue as that would have cleared it up for you on the i.d |

| | | Re: unknown boletus These pics. are of Peppery Bolete taken last year. Yours do have similarities, and fungi are exceptionally variable. I may well be wrong, but I don't think that yours look quite near enough to be same species.

| | | Re: unknown boletus I think I agree with you, mike. There's just something not quite there with the stipe & cap colours, but, as you said, might be wrong.

Hope you both do stick around and add to the forum.
(PS - I'm still very much a fungi novice too, so don't necessarily take everything I say about fungi as read )

| | | Re: unknown boletus Thanks for your quick respose. From recolllection the stem was about 10-11 cm tall, the cap of the most concave was approx 7cm. Looks like a mouse or something had enjoyed it. There were lots in the site in dense thickety wood. It had a red tint through out. and beautiful olivey/orange/brown pores. very pleased to join this site! |
