| | | Three more. Here are three different ones.. I think I am correct with two of them, however I am not to sure about the third.
I think the first is Bay bolete .... bolitus badius ?
The second i think is a very young "Penny bun" ... Boletus edulis
My books point me to a Larch botete .... Suillus grevillei
HOWEVER, as far as I could see there were no larch near by.
As always, your replies are most welcome ! |

| | | Re: Three more. Not too sure on the i.d of the middle one, but agree that you have a lovely Penny Bun there & that the 3rd is indeed a Larch Bolette due to the ring |

| | | Re: Three more. I'd have gone for B.edulis for both 1 & 2, and agree that 3 is more than likely S.grevillei (I have found them in instances where Larches have been some distance away).
If No.1 was B.badius, the pores would have readily "blued" upon bruising. - did you give that a try?
regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: Three more. Even though the image is wrong in the initial post, the specimen is definitely not B. edulis. Much too dark at that age It'd be a golden brown. |

| | | Re: Three more. Thanks for the reply Nick,
Yep it was very dark brown and very slimy as it was raining . Not at all slimy when dry, more like chamois leather. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
