| | | Small red / orange Discomycetes from Clumber Hello all
Les and I visited Clumber recently and found these small red / orange discomycetes growing together on a sandy / soil path between conifer plantations.
First thoughts of Aleuria aurantia, but as you can see they are quite different!
Any comments as always much appreciated before they go off to Kew.
Size approx 3cm
Size approx 1cm

have you read this useful thread? - Help us to help you identify fungi
Chris
PS I've sent you a PM on another matter

| | | Re: Small red / orange Discomycetes from Clumber Hi John,
To me, these look like normal Aleuria aurantia, with those in the second photo being the newly emerging fruitbodies, and that in the first photo becoming the more typical "orange peel" appearance.
I found similar looking "cups" at two separate sites within the last month, (see photos below), both groups of which subsequently went on to become what is normally seen in largish patches of Aleuria aurantia.
Largest cup approx 25mm across.
Largest cup approx 20mm across.
Regards,
Mike. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
