I heard the groan!!
seen several of these over the past three days. In mixed woods but mainly pine.
Neither specimin bruised or exhibited any colour change when cut even after a couple of hours. they were still uncoloured today after a couple of days.  
thought this may be a bay bolete????   
Thought this may be a mottled bolete.
Any ideas gratefully recieved. regards tn.

As no experts have come forward I would agree with B badius and Leccinum scabrum.

many thanks both. sorry for the late reply. i've been composing some files to upload my better pics to the wab website. i didnt realise there were so many. watch this space and i dare say more work for you administraters. regards tn.
