| | | Pale yellow scutellinia (possibly) Hi,
spotted this one (there was just the one) growing on the ground under a plastic crate.
Approximately 8mm across and on a substrate of dead grass and other vegetation, no obvious pieces of wood of any size.
The "eyelashes" make me assume that its a Scutellinia but its not like any others I've seen.
Any thoughts?

I'm worried
You are liking the eyelashes, but you are finding it under a crate? I think you need to find a new watering hole? Sorry for being flippant but you led into it!

Mal | Cheers Mal,
Cheilymenia is probably a better place to start looking, it didn't occur to me because the ones I've seen previously have bee much smaller and always on dung. (I've got a sample of a Peziza waiting to go to Chris, I may slip this in with it to see what he thinks). Quote:

JB | No need to to worry,
Eyelashes and (beer) crates have lead me into many interesting situations in the past JB. I would never be flippant about such things.

looks interesting . . . . Cheilymenia vitellina springs to mind, but I'd like to get it under the 'scope before committing myself

Chris | Well if you don't mind Chris, I collected it and can include it with the Peziza sample from this thread, Agaricus (?) on wood chip. which I would have sent already if our council hadn't decided to repair the bridge that connects us to the outside world.
(Not that I'm really complaining, I asked if they could put in a drawbridge but they said no.)
