| | | a couple for ID please Last couple from me today
First in grassland, sheepfield . Cap 25mm, stipe 60mm. Gills orangy brown. Some kind of Marasmius or Collybia?
Second in mixed woodland litter. Similar size to the one above.
I'm thinking a Mycena sp. possibly galericulata - common bonnet?
thanks

first one could well be Entoloma sericella; you really do need to do more than just take a snap or two in the field sometimes . . . . a pink spore print would indicate Entoloma and would eliminate both Marasmius and Collybia for example
second one could well be a Mycena but it's rather over-exposed, there appears to be abundant cystidia on the stem which would eliminate galericulata
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: a couple for ID please Thanks Chris
All these hints and tips do help a novice. I am getting better though. I really need to get a better camera, rather than the phone cam, and my old Fuji 3400 has "issues" on working and zoom sometimes needing a gentle slapping (I think it may have an internal loose connection)
I must try to be more patient with some of the smaller ones!
thanks
again
