| | | Inonotus I found this lot of what looked like small Inonotus hispidus on a fallen log.
I thought it might be I radiatus but the spores are all c6.5 x 4.5 which is too big (and it doesn't look like the photo in the Gallery).
I then found this
and now I am really confused.
Can anyone help.

Have you tried Inonotus cuticularis? Can't remember whether that has setae or not? Do you know which tree the log may have belonged to?

The tree was amongst large beech so I think that is the most likley. Looking at the description in FOS the spores and hymenium setae look good and there are supposed to be distinctive setae in the pileipellis so I will have a look for those and get back.

The setae of the pp unlike any of the other inonotus.
So we have Inonotus cuticularis

and a quick look under the scope says it is a different species
With these hooked setae a new one for me Inonotus radiatus.
