| | | Identification appreciated Hi All,
My 4 year old found these in our garden late October last year - he was very pleased with himself so we snapped some photos of them! Can any of you fungi types give me any idea what they might be please?
Thanks,
Nick |

| | | Re: Identification appreciated We'd really need a shot of the stipe, gills and generally the underside to get anywhere! Regardless of the lack of those, I have my suspicions that it's Collybia fusipes |

| | | Re: Identification appreciated Thanks for your response, very much appreciated! I've had a look and the best I have is the following. Not a great one but hopefully of some use...
Next time I snap one I'll keep in mind the gill thing!
Cheers,

| | | Re: Identification appreciated It definitely helps. In future, I shall keep my suspicions to myself Looks more like a Cortinarius (which aren't even worthy of a few seconds on a Sunday night!!! ). A notoriously tough genus to ID, even when I'm awake Cheers for the gills shot. Certainly not C. fusipes! |

| | | Re: Identification appreciated Thanks for that. I've done the obvious thing and put Cortinarius into Google. I can see why it's hard to ID and a little less than exciting. Even if Wikipedia is over on the species count by a factor of 10 (and I've been told that it can be a little less than accurate on occasion!) I can see why it might be difficult to ID
I've always been fascinated by fungi but have never been able to get started due to the impossibility of IDing from a field 'mushroom guide'! Hence I'm grateful to you for making it more accessible!
Many thanks,
