Saw that link earlier on er... one of Nick's threads.

She "knows quite a bit about mushrooms ... but this time had forgotten to take her mushroom book with her" and "She ate them raw after assuming they were field mushrooms"

I realise the Daily Mail doesn't always feature the most accurate reporting but without the requisite extra samples for the hospital, did they really only identify what she had eaten from "a quick check on the internet" ??? Did they make the correct ID even then? (Forgive me if that's a naive question.)

I had the same thoughts. Although I was surprised by the stated (surprisingly low) 15% mortality with medical treatment figure.

Watched the article on Anglia news. The girl lives in Aldbrugh and apparently these fungi are very prevalent in our county. They showed the fungi on TV and I was surprised at how similar they are to field mushrooms.

They also showed the girl in the hospital while undergoing treatment. The poison was obviously identified. Don't think this is a media over reaction. I certainly will be going on the Thetford Forest Fungi course.

If they did and said someone had eaten them would the thread have been deleted
