Yes, I agree, the tree looks to be healthy from what I can see on your image but as I said in an earlier post, there's something going on in the butt. Depending on what it is, it could take a few years to manifest itself in the general condition of the tree.

I don't think it is dangerous at this stage, you could raise the issue with your local council's tree officer and let him have a look for an on the ground opinion.

It appears to have had ivy growing up it that has been cut back. Could this (the ivy, or the cutting back of it ) have damaged the tree in places allowing the fungus in. Or maybe a bit of over enthusiastic strimming done the damage?
