| | | Fungi Identification please Here are 3 pics of some Boletus (I Think) we picked today. A little concerned to get identification right because it's been years since I picked Boletus and, I wasn't terribly experienced at the time, now feel very unsure. A bit of guidance would be nice. I kind of think they are Edulis, but not sure. The biggest one is 18cm across with yellowish underside and white striated stem and one pure white stem But the very yellowish one is a puzzler.
Thanks

if you only think these may be Boletus why collect so many?

Chris | Be nice to me , I'm new here.
OK, I'll re-phrase it. I'm 99% sure they are Boletus & think they may be Edulis. Just didn't want to say that in case an expert jumped down my throat in his eagerness to tell me I was wrong.
So what type of Boletus are they then?
I picked so many because I was fairly confident, I just stumbled on them unexpectedly & if I hadn't picked collected them (cut I might add) they would have probably been trampled down by some ignoramus out toileting his dog.

| | | Re: Fungi Identification please hi
as you are new you are maybe unaware of a debate going on here where we are getting lots of new people on who seem to see the site merely as a confirmation for their collections, which they are intending to eat, and how we should respond to such requests
there are websites that do that, but on WAB we have a more general interest in the whole mycology (which doesn't preclude mycophagy, but does include a lot else)
so of course you are welcome here
however - I wouldn't go near fungi on a site where people go "toileting" their dogs -
seriously! could be a lot worse than a gastric upset . . . .
Chris

| | | Re: Fungi Identification please Easily done! Plus, in my defense, my Mac consumed a whole bottle of Sprite a while back so decides when to be responsive or not
I've edited it anyhow Chros |

Chris | Hi, Sorry. Like lots of Newbies, I should imagine, who join forums I didn't do my homework. I just thought, silly of me, like minded folk who liked the countryside and had a fungi forum would be helpful in giving someone some advice about these mushrooms. Sorry again. I take on board your suggestions and Thank you.
