| | | Little Brown Job (ID Help please) Found today, both growing within 50mm of each other.
(Had to relocate them to get the photos).
Apparently growing directly from soil, but they were on the edge of a wood-chipped area, so could possibly have had an association with small wood fragments in the soil.
Cap size approx.12mm wide. Stipe height approx. 50mm.
I'm assuming that both originally had rings, but one was missing when found.
Not getting anywhere at all with regards to potential ID.
Any suggestions towards ID will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mike. |

Mike. | This is a species of Pholiotina, once included within Conocybe. Couldn't tell you which species. Its a microscope and monogrpah job I'm afraid. These species are often found on rich soil, among woodchip mulch.

| | | Re: Little Brown Job (ID Help please) totally agree with Andy - it isn't Pholiotina rugosa, but that doesn't help you that much
the one which seems to be commonest on soil/woodchip in this part of West Yorkshire
is P. hadrocystis but you do need to do the microscopy
(you're gonna have to bite that bullet one day, Mike )
cheers
Chris
