| | | shaggy parasols?id please?
i have found several rings/troops of these in a local copse, some are in excess of 10 - 11 inches.
pretty sure they are shaggy parasol, they go a red/brown colour when cut, have a hollow stipe,NO snakelike markings on stipe, some have a free ring, the larger they seem to get the less free they are,but the ring seems more double the larger the specimen.white spore print.
have found them forming in rings 12 - 15 ft across in dense woodland(however, a lack of conifers) |

| | | Re: shaggy parasols?id please? They certainly don't look like any Chlorophyllum rhacodes I've ever seen- especially going by that first image. I think you're looking at a different species here... |

| | | Re: shaggy parasols?id please? Now you all know my ID skills are more or less zero but looking at the picture in the new Collins Guide of Macrolepiota konradii I see some similarities...? "Central disc on cap breaks up into a cogwheel or star-shaped pattern.... white collar-like double ring."
Just a thought. Could it be that?
Out of interest, whereabouts in the country are you Jeanette?

| | | Re: shaggy parasols?id please? crikey,i wish someone could see them at their best, they're amazing, especially when the sun shines through the woods at their placement.
Solus, will look up your informed choice, didn't come across it when searching for what i thought these were.
