| | Could somebody help me and my son identify these mushrooms? Hi, another newbie I'm afraid.
Myself and my son were out picking blackberries near Portsmouth over the weekend and happened across some mushrooms in the fields, one of which I though was a field mushroom and the other I couldn't identify. Despite my best efforts, my son (a very inquistive 5 year old!) insisted we take pictures and find someone who did know.
The mushrooms that I thought were field mushrooms were up to 15 cm in diameter and the smaller yellow coloured mushrooms were up to 5 cm in diameter.
Sorry about the pics it was raining at the time!
Can anyone help please? |

The first mushrooms are members of the agaricus genus, which includes field mushrooms. However, there are several members of this group, and even a provisional identification of the exact species requires quite a bit more information than can be determined from a photo.
Sorry, I can't offer any help with the second group.

| | | Re: Could somebody help me and my son identify these mushrooms? Hi many thanks for getting back to me, I'll let the little lad know tomorrow. As regards the "field mushrooms" I did a little checking for more info on this species and I checked for any colour change upon bruising, of which there was none. I seem to be a little gripped by this myself as I have now started adding to my library in a small way so that I can at least have an educated guess next time. Many thanks,
