| | | Can anybody ID these. I have these growing in my garden.
They seem to have appeared in about 3 days and there is a patch of lawn that looks like a fairy ring. I would like to know if they are safe to eat or a danger to kids and animals. I live in Hornchurch, Essex if that helps! |

| | | Re: Can anybody ID these. Sportmo, Firstly welcome to WAB fungi forum, you'll love it here... I am no expert but i like to have a go at identifying to get some practice, I am going for argaricus urinascens, however what I have learnt in the couple of years I have been into fungi is that argaricus as a species is one of the most difficult to get a positive identification due to the similarity of many specimens, and without more detail of gills, spore print scale and with argaricus quite often microscopy it can often be impossible to be sure... so I would not place an enormous amount of confidence in my post, this could easily be one of 3 or 4 other varieties that I am aware of. As for edibility we are not allowed to post details related to this, but I am sure one of the experts on here will tell you if this is dangerous to your children.... which if I am right it's not.

Stewart | You seemed to have let an extra 'r' make its way into Agaricus there Stew
It's Agaricus alright, but only someone with a lot of field experience/experience with this species might be able to ID this by photo alone. There are Agaricus species that aren't good on the human body, but I doubt this is anything to worry about as long as you keep the kiddies and animals from nibbling it Certainly don't eat it |
