australian Fungi

hi from down under folks, since spring I left on my travels to live in aus for a while, and although I dont post much Ive been keeping up to speed with all the threads and getting very jeleouse recently. I was wondering if anybody has any knowlege of Australian fungi, or what part of aus i should base myself in if I am to continue this pleasure. So far I have managed to gain some insight into finds made in and around melbourne with many species shared in common with us. I guess im wondering if anyone has any knowlege at all as to the best part of aus to base myself for mushroom hunting? Also are the distinguishing characteristics we use to recognise species at home universal over the continents, or do i need to start learning over again?

No worries if you cant help, but if you can at all Id be very interested to hear.

Once Ive settled and start finding, I shall post any interesting finds.
