Found this tightly packed grouping today at the edge of a sheep grazed pasture under
Fagus.
Fairly sure they are
Cortinarius (section
Phlegmacium?).
Cap diameters to approx 8cm, stipe heights similar.
Gills adnate, generally violaceous. Spores rusty brown.
Immarginate bulbous stipes had slightly violaceous tinges to approx. half way up from bulb.
Nearest I can come to from subsequently looking through book descriptions appears to be
C.purpurascens (Bruising Webcap). - Unfortunately I didn't try bruising them whilst on site.
Any thoughts / ID's / suggestions muc appreciated.
Regards,
Mike.
