Kinda gets a bit hard to stifle the whoops, & you wouldn't want to alert anyone in the near vicinity.

Now you get to experience the paranoia that goes with holding such local knowledge private, As well as the smug warming glow of course.

Yup I sympathise with you there, just keep the faith nick and keep doing the milage one day you will be rewarded (is what i keep telling myself).

That was me yersterday, it seems to be an epic year for Ceps, I found four or 5 patches like that. In fact yesterday I found myself in the middle of a patch before I realised what was around me and managed to tread on 2 young ones

Stumbled across a cep (just one) today on our land. First time I've found one here. Unfortunately the slugs had found it first. I hung what was left of the cap in a tree to ,hopefully, spread the spores.

BTW Nick I found a chanterelle patch (not huge but so what) only a hundred yards or so from home last year in a spot I had been to frequently for five years or more previously, and they are there again this year, so keep looking, they will probably turn up where you least expect them.
