| | | Marismius oreades Never found this one before but was pretty sure it was a Marismus
Due to
1) growing in a ring
2) cap with tan slightly raised bit in centre is right
3) Gills distant
Only problem is the gills look free to me whereas the description in the A-Z says they should be adnate.
I've got no sense of smell so can't narrow it down that way
Can anyone help?
Thanks

| | | Re: Marismius oreades Does anyone know the age/ring size for Marasmius oreades? Very roughly? Just wondered as I found a few in the bit behind the first row of dunes from the sea shore (in Northumberland, day before yesterday), so was wondering how long they'd been there. The dunes that is.

Melanie | hi Melanie
I read many years ago - can't remember where - that from aerial photographs of the Salisbury plain area there were oreades rings which were probably older than nearby Stonehenge . . . .
it would be wonderful if that were true

Found this saying they grow 10-20cm per year Marasmius oreades - Botany Photo of the Day
Have just looked out of my window and spotted a suspicious looking ring on fungi in the lawn! Will have to go and investigate later. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
