| | | Identification help please - Purple/blue fungi Hi very new to all this, found a morel a few years in my garden and got extremely excited but not thought about mushroom hunting since. Went to the new forest at the weekend and spent most of my time hovering over cow pats taking photos of fungi =/ Have to be careful i can see this becoming a new obsession. Going back to the forest this weekend, need to arm myself with a good guide =)
But anyway.. not great photos, i know, but these are the ones i was most excited about, can anyone help me identify them please
Thank you in advance, sure you'll be hearing from me soon ;P

As you will soon find out, identifying fungi can be a tricky business! When photographing a fungus for identification, make sure the image is focussed, try to get a good shot of distinctive features such as gills or pores, and try to give a thorough account of the habitat in which it was found. Judging by the colour, the seemingly pale gills and the apparent grassland environment, I'd say these specimens are from the genus Entoloma. Hopefully someone with more expertise [I too am a beginner] will provide you with a more specific response.
Hope this helps a little |
