| | | A few more fungi to test you and confirm or correct my IDs Still trying to get to grip with the macro-close up feature on the camera, so apologies for that
First one I think is an old Dryads Saddle - polyporus squamosus. It was on the ground, must have fallen from one of the Fagus around. Very large, almost 500mm across. Standard multiblade pocket knife laid on for scale. Underside was very black but no idea how long laid there.
These I think are Mycena sp. Several on old rotting log in pine plantation. less than 10mm across. Probably needs microscopy but I am still trying to save for that!
And next I am thinking Lactarius Rufus. Pine Plantation floor. I know the pics don't show the milk, but there was a couple of small spots when I brushed the gills.
again apologies for the less than good pics.
thanks

jon | what camera are you using, Jonbem? I know about the kit I use (I'm a Nikon DSLR man myself - D70 + Nikkor 105mm Micro, and D40 for general shots), but there are many others on WAB with much wider knowledge than me who may be able to help
old, mouldy, fallen brackets are really not worth bothering with, frankly, when larger stuff in good condition should be popping up all over the place -
did you get the torrential rain we experienced here in Huddersfield, up there in Richmondshire yesterday evening? should ensure a bumper crop of all sorts in the next week or so
cheers
Chris
