Peter | Peter, have you ever found atypical G. marginata with a more rough stipe or K. mutabilis with smooth stipe that ended up needing a microscope to be certain of species or is this something that has never happened to you?

| | | Re: Galerina marginata? All the Kuehneromyces I have seen have had a 'Shaggy' stipe below the ring.
Here's one of my photo' of Kuehneromyces mutabilis
Galerina marinata is more variable it often has loose fibres in a snake-skin like pattern (as in many Galerina's) but these can be rubbed off and they do not recurve outward as with Kuehneromyces.
And here is my photo of Galerina Marginata
