this may be a bit of a long shot as it was a bit far gone but I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this.
Found in a belt of broadleaf trees (mostly oak, ash and hazel) at the edge of a boggy field. Cap approx. 8cm across. Stipe very slimy and more strikingly purple than the pic shows. Too old to attempt a spore print, it was very soggy. I thought possibily something along the lines of Cortinarius pseudosalor
Apologies for the lack of a gill shot, I think I must have deleted it by mistake.

spore size would help, but I think you're there or very close - it's now called Cortinarius stillatitius Fr. - Fries's name predates Lange's by over a hundred years
