| | | Cystolepiota seminuda? Found these last week during an informal foray with PMG & Gracie.
Having pondered on them since, I've come to the conclusion that they could well be Bearded Dapperling - Cystolepiota seminuda, which I've never previously found.
Cap sizes to approx 30mm, stipe heights to approx 35mm.
Generally with overall "grainy" appearance. Gills white, crowded, & free.
Growing in leaf litter/humus below Fagus.
Any confirmations / other much appreciated.
Regards,
Mike. |

certainly looks like, down to the reddish discoloration of the lower stem . . . .
a warning - even with "moderate" Google search mode set a search for "seminuda" will bring up some interesting non-fungal images
cheers
Chris

That's another new one.
I won't comment on Google search results - a person could be led astray.

We get a lot of these in the Stones Wood, and your images have captured all of the essential features of this interesting species. It is one of my local favorites.

| | | Re: Cystolepiota seminuda? Cheers Les - Good to have a second confirmation on this.
I understand that they are a common species, but despite generally being out two or three times a week this last couple of years, this was the first time I'd seen any.

My family had a great laugh at my expense as I wanted to know what a nutcracker looked like and googled it. The reason I googled it was that a starling in winter plumage apparently looked like a nutcracker. 56years old and totally innocent me |

Sorry, well off topic and wrong forum!
