| | | Psathyrella sp ? found yesterday in woodchips, i have narrowed it down to being (possibly) a Psathyrella species, but if it is , no clue as to which one,
the cap edges seem have traces of veil remnants , typical of Psathyrella,
the spore pic is the best i could manage to get, but its still no good, so may be of limited use
the spore print was a dark chocolate brown colour,
size of cap 40 to 50 mm across,
thanks,

Correct with Psathyrella, velar remnants are visible on the cap margins. Habitat & Spore print colour correct. As to which species you have there, well you need a good monograph to the genus, Kits Van Waveren the best to date I believe? Without something of this nature, apart from some of the more obvious species within the genus, it is very difficult to get to grips with.

Andy | thanks for the information, with my limited knowledge, i think it will just go down as Psathyrella species, just getting to genus level is something of a success for me

Andy | Even with the Kits Van Waveren monograph they are still very difficult or nigh impossible to get to grips with ......
