| | orange galerina? these were at about 1500ft up on the moors (yes, in Yorkshire Chris!) and seem to be working out to Galerina spp, I suspect clavata, grateful for any input/views.
Dont have spore print colour or any particular smell, but the caps seem a little strange and the stems somewhat contorted.
Stipe/stem is a bit fibrey, lighter at the apex, but all flesh generally golden yellow in the very wet conditions, gills seem quite distant with intermediates, adnexed/adnate.
Substrate mossy peaty boggy heathery grassy moorland.(just to narrow it down).
Two different but very close, locations, but think its the same fungus, just different developing stages.
Sorry to be a bit vague guys - it was very wet and rainy.
Cheers
Ken

occurrence with moss doesn't narrow it down much they are moss specialists, though there are theories that each Galerina may have limits on which moss genera / species it will grow with
Chris

C | If there are lots of 'help' posts tomorrow it'll be because you've got a bit too rusty looking at all those Puccinia in recent times ..... You might find you quite like agarics after all

Melanie | no look - I love agarics, seriously (especially when they show enough characters for me to name them with confidence (note recent Agrocybe) - just don't get me started on Russula - I used to have a badge that said "Russulas - stomp on 'em all! Let God sort 'em out"
lol

| I could do with a badge like that ... I'm afraid to say, but I just walk past Russulas, or check them underneath first to make sure they aren't something else before leaving the where they are. Though we could of course send them over to Germany for Andreas' daughter to id for us
