| | | BMS' New Website The revamp of the BMS Website seems to have rendered the very useful 'Resources' unavailable (unless of course they are now restricted to registrants/members only). Such references as the FRDBI and List of Recommended English Names appear either to have faulty links or be non-existant. If anyone can shed any light it would be appreciated. Furthermore with regards the BMS links the WAB Fungi Reference (Useful Websites) is in need of a serious overhaul in view of these recent developments.
Cheers
David

I access the BMS database at: British Fungi - checklist
I have just tried it and it still works OK

| | | Re: BMS' New Website Seems to be working fine. I suspect they were just in the process of uploading the new-look pages when you tried.

| | | Re: BMS' New Website Many thanks to both Peter and Melanie for their feedback. It is strange that the link Peter provided above works perfectly well yet I was still experiencing some technical hitches: My relevant bookmarked link expired and the equivalent one given by BMS on their site for the FRDBI under 'Fungal Recording' results in either "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (re) isn't associated with any program." or "The webpage cannot be displayed" in IE, when I try it in those respective browsers. It appears that the URL on the BMS website may need editing to match the one Peter has provided and which is restored in the WAB Fungi References.
Though appreciating that there are some amongst us who may wish I hadn't bothered but I have managed to find a replacement link to a copy of the BMS List of Rcommended English Names (I can't vouch for it's currency): http://www.fungi4schools.org/Reprints/ENGLISH_NAMES.pdf
Many of the WAB Reference links relating to keys (Resources) now only lead back as far as the BMS homepage with no apparent means of onward progression to the originals.
Maybe a more thorough search of the new website is required after the teething problems have been sorted out.

Maybe a more thorough search of the new website is required after the teething problems have been sorted out. | It was getting to all the right places when I tried it last night from the WAB links pages, but today seems to be hitches, probably because they are still in the process of uploading the updated pages. I think it may be a case of being patient for a day or two until it is finished.
They've got a link to the old website which is British Mycological Society
and to get to the resource page: Resources - British Mycological Society
Anyway, thanks for alerting us. We can correct any links if they have been altered.

| | | Re: BMS' New Website For some reason, it took about six attempts before it finally accepted it, but I've now added the following note to the BMS section of the Useful Websites links page: -
(NOTE: 04/08/2010 - BMS WEBSITE IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING MAJOR UPGRADES RESULTING IN LINKS TO THAT SITE BEING TEMPORARILY UNRELIABLE. LINKS HERE WILL BE AMENDED AS NECESSARY, ONCE THE BMS WEBSITE UPGRADE IS COMPLETE)
Regards,
Mike.
