Found on moss in wood
I found this on August 2nd growing or lying on moss on a tree stump in woods near Canterbury-what is it?

Hi MF, and welcome to WAB.

This will be The myxomycete (Slime Mould), commonly known as Flowers of Tan, (or sometimes Dog's Vomit Sime Mould).

Its Latin name is Fuligo septica.

It is quite common, and will appear and disappear within a few days, its final stages often being a rather crusty white-ish looking mess that is completely different to what you see here.
