So - having seen very little fungi-wise recently due partly to excessively dry weather, I was pleased to spot this Chicken of the Woods on a day out in Cornwall last week.
OK, not the best of photos by any means as it was taken with rather a lot of zoom! Why? While I note the new Collins Guide comments that these are "often high up", this little chicken was roosting
really high up!
The only other fungus of note I've found recently was a Stinkhorn in Somerset on Thursday, looking even more obscene than usual as it was curved over with the lower side of the stem eaten away! It still had most of its green slime and for the first time I was actually aware of its er.... perfume!
