| | bay bolete? Hi all,
grateful for some input - this was under beech, well worn, cap starting to crack a little, dark brown, but with reddish tones to stipe and flesh, yellowing pores, bruising dark blue. chunky stem but not thick like B. calopus.
Bay bolete, boletus badius?
Cheers
Ken

Ken | hi Ken
is that really the state of fungi that side of the Pennines? the way it's curling reminds me of British Rail sandwiches in the 70s
I suspect that yes this is (was once - lol) B. badius
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: bay bolete? Hi,
I would think that those were Xerocomus chrysenteron s.l., not badius. They look a little too thin fleshed, but probably it is nevertheless badius.
best regards,
Andreas
