| | | One for ID Help Please Found these earlier in the week, and thought that with the distinctive caps and marginal remnants, a species ID should be fairly easy.
However, despite trawling through my books, and several online sites for the last couple of days, I can't find anything which seems to be a convincing match.
Cap diameters to 60mm, stipe heights up to 90mm, growing directly from leaf-litter amongst Fagus.
Any steer towards ID would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Mike. |

Thanks for the reply.
You may well be right. I was thinking along the lines of Psathyrella, but there does seem to be several that vaguely fit the bill, with none looking so similar for me to be able to say "that's the one".
I must admit though, the photo's of P.candolleana in Phillips & Jordan are so incredibly different looking (especially the gill shots) - and neither of them look particularly like my examples.
At this rate, I doubt whether I'll ever get up to speed on even identifying macro characteristics properly.
