Found this weekend, growing in the gap opening up by decortication of an old fallen Scots Pine trunk.
(This piece broken away by myself to allow photographs).
The fruitbodies are noticeably paler in colour than any previous Scutellinia's I've found. - Would this be due to lack of light where they were growing?
Also, when I broke away the piece of bark, a very visible cloud of white dust was created, much of which settled on the fruitbodies which were still damp with dew & previous rain. - Would that have been a mass release of spores caused by the sudden movement of the fruitbodies? (The mix of dew & white "dust" debris can be seen quite clearly on the photos): -
Any comments on above, thoughts on species ID, etc. much appreciated.
Regards,
Mike.
