Hi,
I hope this is an acceptable use of this excellent forum, but I was wondering if there were any folks out there from north Northumberland who are interested in foraging for fungi.
As the summer holidays approach I'm becoming eager to get out into Thrunton & Holystone woods to search for some delightful edibles - last year saw good numbers of cep, chanterelle and hedgehog fungi, as well as a wide number of other boletes - and I was just wondering if there was anyone else in this locality that might like to meet up and share their knowlegde/ experience. I've attended fungi days at Kielder and courses run by Gordon Beakes of Newcastle University's Mycology dept, but there doesn't seem to be much running in the north of the county.
While my wife is always happy to go for a walk, I've struggled to get her to embrace my fascination with fungi and after the first few weeks of the season, she tends to start muttering things about going to the beach!
If there is anyone out there who's interested in meeting up, or simply exchanging ideas/knowledge about the area through the forum, then I'd love to hear from you.
Many thanks, Finn.
p.s. hope this doesn't sound creepy!
