I saw this quite impressive fungus at the base of an oak tree in Monks Wood near Huntingdon yesterday, and wondered what it was (sorry, I appreciate the photo probably doesn't show you all the things you need to make an ID). |

Actually that's the second time you've identified one of these for me, so I really ought to start recognising them for myself now!  In my defence, the last one I saw was in nowhere near so good condition and so looked quite different:
I'm obviously not a fungi fan, but I do like to identify things I see on my walks. I see people have started reported seeing Chicken of the Woods, I'll have to keep an eye out for that on my walks.
