| | | ID help I thought this was going to be Lycoperdon when I first saw it, but I was surprised when I cut into it. Now, with this very gelatinous cuticle, I've really no idea. Help please. |

| | | Re: ID help hi
if you've got it at home leave it a couple of hours and you'll know what it is
it's interesting because each half will continue to 'grow' into a much more recognisable fungus - not true growth, just hydrostatic expansion
just keep a peg handy for the old nostrils
have you guessed what it is yet
cheers
Chris

| | | Re: ID help Considering how many of these things I've seen, I'm ashamed I didn't recognise it. I think it was the size that threw me, only about 1.5cm in diameter.
Thanks all. |

Ah, okay, you posted at the same time. |

| | | Re: ID help Hello,
hmmm, to me it seems that you all think this is Phallus impudicus? A Phallaceae of course, but I wonder about the gelba colour and the size of the "egg". I have never cut such tiny impudicus-eggs into halves, but the bigger ones always have a green gleba inside. Couldn't it be something else, like Mutinus ravenellii or so?
best regards,
Andreas
