| | | Unidentified fungi for ID Hi,
Really strange bracket fungi on tree stump (unidentified species). The brackets appear to be almost hollow, around 4cm diameter and mucilagenous; consistency of margarine! I used scalpel to show inner portion. I also noticed previously that having detached the fruiting body a new body grows very rapidly; within space of hours so am wondering if it is actually fungi? Any ideas |

'Tis a young specimen of a slime mould known as Enteridium lycoperdon. An odd species that will eventually turn the colour of mercury!
